Y'all do know there are now apps where you can control your own trading right? I do on Merrill. Unlimited free trades. I don't buy any of the high dollar managed funds. They have never tried to peddle anything.

Y'all do know there are now apps where you can control your own trading right? I do on Merrill. Unlimited free trades. I don't buy any of the high dollar managed funds. They have never tried to peddle anything. When I left there back in the day, they were horrible about it - which was why I walked. The sales managers needed those bonuses to pay for Porsches and cocaine, and to do it the young guys like me had to push the high commission stuff to make their numbers.

I do my own trading with Schwab & TD Ameritrade. They both have 0 commission trades. Schwab is buying TD in a few months in a merger. I use a publishing group called Banyan Hill that puts out newsletters and have had pretty good success. As mentioned above though everyone hits some losers.
