I just made this decision myself this season.....power poles or ultrex.....or really fork out the cash and get both (which I really didn't want to). After talking with some folks, I decided to go with the ultrex first and see if that covered what I needed. After six months now, I don't think I need the power poles. Between spot-lock and cruise, I have almost everything I need. I am passing on the poles and will put future purchases into electronics.

Have to decide which to get: Power Poles or Ultrex or Ghost? What would you do? Only one. Depends on how you typically fish. For shallow water guys spot lock is useless, for deep water guys power poles are useless. Where do you spend more time? 10ft plus or less than 10ft? How many times do you find yourself in big winds trying to hold or out deep trying to sit on a specific little spot? Personally I want both but for how I fish it made sense to get a shallow water anchor first.

TM no doubt about it! No poles on mine but I won't have another boat without an Ultrex or similarly equipped TM. None of the newer models were out when I got mine but I would look at the others if I were doing it today.
