Wow!!! That sounds like one of my adventures. Too often they end in disappointment but these are the days that keep you walking miles to investigate. I would say catching 50 trophy Rios in one spot will keep you walking for at least a couple more years  And I have no doubt it ended in a new water body catch and release record. Did you break one of Rick's or Chuck's records?

Being a displaced New Englander the first time I caught a Rio I thought someone let something that got too big for their aquarium out. Those are much bigger and a lot prettier than the handful I've seen in the Austin area, and taht looks like a beautiful spot you caught them in.

Love those Rios. Good job Chuck.  Side Note: I have noticed the Rio bite is starting to pick up. I am still seeing a few Rios on nest. Is the spawn about over?

Thanks Curtis for the reply. The Rio spawn for the most part is over. I am seeing plenty of Rios swimming in schools.

Very Nice Catchin! Banker- always catchin you always seem to catch Quality fish.Keep up the GOOD work! I`ve never caught a Rio but would welcome the experience some day.

Thanks Fishbonz and Moonshadow for the replies. Fishbonz: PM me anytime. We will go catch some Rios.  Moonshadow: Rios are not considered panfish. They are Cichlids but can be caught using panfish tackle.

Thanks Gitter for the reply. My biggest Rio (Length wise) was 11.50" ! I have caught a bunch in the 10 and 11 inch range .
