lard or crisco, that was all I used on all my dutch ovens and cast iron.

put enough in to stir and let it smoke, cool, repeat with some new added.

Prior to seasoning, sand it with some 80 grit sand paper. You'll need an electric sander. Then to season, oil it up and cook the hell out of it. Set it on top of a campfire and let it go. Then do it again and again and again.

I don't think it matters a lot what oil or grease you use to season. But when you apply oil for storage, I'd avoid vegetable oils as they tend to go rancid after a time.

No, that is a Karastan rug on top of tile. I use to work for Mohawk carpet. Every piece of flooring in house was bought with employee discount.
