Just a quick question with the use of other crickets (of which I used years ago) when fished pre-arthritis- what size hook, jig or straight- and do you use drop shot rig?

I use a #6 hook for just about everything. No jig, and use the drop shot rig using the #6 hook, and Gulp baits. I am going to give a bobber rig using the Gulp crickets with just a BB or smaller split shot a try.

I also use a #6 hook...drop shot, with 4-6 inches between the hook & a 1/8 oz drop shot weight.

Thanks fellas. It kinda brings back memories fishing in the Sarasota Florida canals with grasshoppers, dragonflies and every once in a while a cricket, by swatting our belts in the weeds (age 8 &9).

This last trip I caught all my fish on Watermelon Pearl & Smelt. My brother in law was using Chartreuse Shad. Pretty sure all the Rios came on the Watermelon Pearl, but in the past I have caught them on various colors including Chartreuse Shad.

Say Steve what color of minnow did you catch the Rios on? Try the Gulp Alive Leeches. Gray/Black! I have caught several nice Rios this year using them!
