I don’t know anything about the guy, but I do know a thing or two about building split bamboo (Tonkin Cane) fly rods. The most I ever sold one of mine for was $750 and that was to a collector that I met in Montana.

Orvis sells theirs for a thousand or so. If someone wants a custom Split Cane Rod, I’ll be happy to build one and give the same guarantees listed above.

I’m not, in any way, bashing the Oyster Rod Company. I have built a dozen rods or so, and I’ve refurbished literally dozens of old ones.

OR..... If someone wants to start building split cane rods...... just PM me, and I will sell you everything you need to start making your own..... for less than you’d pay for one Orvis rod!!
