Looking foward to when the whites run up NB. Do they happen to school up on the bank in the morning?

I banked fish the creeks this past Tuesday. I tromped through the high weeds and found Nails creek muddy and only caught a few bass. Newman’s bottom is dried up in many places and even walking a ways downstream to find water the fishing was lousy. It still was a beautiful day to be out and about.

Hey everyone!

Just bought a kayak and I’ve been taking it out to Somerville with limited luck fishing so far. Usually I launch at Yegua Parks boat ramp and fish around the islands nearby. Been catching small/medium LMB a couple white bass and a hat.

The species I really want to target are crappie, white and hybrid bass.

Can someone give me some tips, locations and lure suggestions for those? When are the best seasons at what areas?

It seems there isn’t a ton of structure on the lake, so I’m having problems finding spots that seem “fishy”. I do have a fish finder, but so far it hasn’t helped much. Feel like I’m randomly getting lucky, but mostly just fishing blind and aimlessly.

Thanks!

Thank you for your service brother!

How are the creeks looking boys? Hopefully we've began to get a flow of water up them. I'm tired of driving from Hockley to galveston and it's getting too cold to wade (I guess I need to buy some waders). Saltwater has been a blast and I've learned a ton, I love the new challenges it offered for me since I've always been freshwater fishing. I fished almost everyday this year whether it be salt or fresh. I noticed looking back at old posts that the whites will run up the creeks during this time of the year, granted there's enough water. This last spring I seemed to figure it out when it comes to catching the whites and hybrids. I'm not sure what the shad do during the fall transition but I'll figure it out. I work in the alcohol industry and it's been booming since quarantine started so holidays plus covid has me working @n extra day a week (and I'm salary). If anyone has some info on creek status' that would be greatly appreciated.
I just wanna catch some fish so let's get em!

Trav281, I hate being the barer of bad news. If we don't get a significant ran in the very near future there will be no creek fishing at Sommerville this Winter and Spring!
