Every BPT angler fishing the Opens that qualifies for the Elites leave plus two exemptions

Lol

That is funny. Because nobody will requalify through the opens. But the legend status will be used again. Guarantee it.

Hackney and Christie are both high enough in points with one event left.

Remember, there are 3 ways to qualify through the opens. You have the Eastern & and Central division. You also get a chance if you fish all events in BOTH divisions. The pool of anglers that is fishing both divisions is much smaller. I'm pretty certain the top 5 anglers of that pool also get an invite.

They do, the AOY totals for all 3 divisions are on their website so I guess they will add 17 guys next year, 15 from the opens and 2 legends.

Prediction:
2-3 go from BPT back to BASS
Cox, TBD FLW angler and a BASS guy go to BPT
End results the same as it always has been, two organizations and two options
BPT is a different game entirely and will be just fine.
BASS will be sold

I am not sure any BASS Elite guys are fishing to qualify with the BPT. I do not think BPT takes on anyone not qualifying through FLW. I feel like more will leave BPT than you do. My own personal opinion is Cox will stay with BASS. I doubt BASS will be sold anytime soon. Their current ownership seems committed to growing the organization and is taking more input from the BASS anglers themselves on how to best do that. Just my own personal thoughts and opinions. I am not in the know.

I agree with that Mark. I think Cox will fish both as long as he can but will turn down the bpt invite if they give it to him.

Found an article showing the anglers eligible for the exemption by points. There’s only 2 spots each season for Legends Exemption, but I could see some of these guys jumping ship. I don’t know if the amount was ever disclosed, but Palaniuk and Swindle had to pay a fine for terminating their contract.

Just throwing this out there...couldn't the ones planning to "jump ship" (so to speak) claim "Breach of Contract" and refuse to pay, since one of the carrots dangled in front of them was a no-entry-fee circuit?

And I believe I read somewhere that the 'fine" was $50K

*Update* Found the article; I think their emphasis on the importance of payouts drawing attention from casual fans is misguided. Seems to me that golf's relatively recent boom in popularity wasn't from big payouts, it was mostly from a compelling story and character to follow (Tiger). Feel like fishing is going to require a similar personality/storyline-based approach to appeal and relate more to the casual viewer.

They've already got Ike...

No entry fee was not dangled in front of them. BPT orginal plan was to have entry fees combined with sponsor money to create bigger purses. After all the anglers committed they voted for no entry fees

Who cares? Our job as a fan or non fan is to watch or not watch. What effect does it have on you if they pay fees or not? I could care less about who fishes which tour and anglers moving from one to the other. Who in their right mind believes things will stay exactly as they started throughout the life of anything? This happens every single year in every single professional sport. Why would professional fishing be any different?

About the 53:00 minute mark BPT angler Jesse Wiggins starts talking about the entry fee deal. Sounds like they will have entry fees for at least 2 years.

Wiggins said they didn’t let the Anglers vote on whether to have Entry fees. No doubt some guys are fuming.

Free Big O’ !! He’d be a fun read after all this.
