Anyone have a preference for nylon vs mono cast nets? The nylon mesh looks more pliable and may spread out more evenly IMO. The mono looks stiffer. However, I have heard the nylon mesh causes more shadow. Academy has up to 3.5' - 5' nets on sale this week for $13 - $17.

Love the mono, easier to repair, and believe me, if you throw for bait, your gonna get hung....

Mono all the way. Nylon will tear, snag more often, is heavier, and rots quicker than any mono net.

Mono. I have a nylon and after it gets wet, it's harder to make it open. Wouldn't buy another one.

mono-you ever tried to free a nylon net from a rock? better to retrieve a mono net ripped up and repair it than go back to academy. Plus if you catch perch or accidentally catch a sandbass in the net the fins and gills get stuck and wrapped up in the nylon one.
I don't really know what to type here.

Not to pile on, but nylon nets suck.

Mono by far. I like to cast up in shallows and man have you ever tried to get a tree limb out of a cast net period. A nylon net will make you throw it down and stomp on it and call it names you would not call your wife. Well you might call her names just not loud enough for her to hear them hahahahahahaha!

Nylon will always get torn or ripped and is hard to repair people call it a waste of time and money i wouldn't mess with them. Mono can rip or tear but can repair easily.
