That sounds like a plan! I checked HydroTec, not near as bad as I thought. $5,000 for a remanufactured power head, $1,200 installation and that includes a complete fuel system check, ignition system check and rebuild of the lower unit. I haven't heard back from them if I had to take it to Missouri or not.

Just dropped it off this morning at a dealership in Slidell. They'll crack open the midsection, drop the gear case and see if the driveshaft is bent or not. We'll see what the problems are soon I hope.

Sorry about the motor buddy! When you find out what caused the failure give me a call. Got me curious. Maybe a ring broke? Sudden stop of the prop shaft and a little back spin due to the wire cage? Aint good no matter what.

Mo, yes it did. It happened up near Bayou Grande, and the motor crapped out where Bayou St. Malo and Bayou Gayago meet, the shortcut back to the MRGO. I limped in at 4000 rpms, I knew if I shut it down it may not make it back. Yep, no cell coverage in a lot of that area I fish, thinking I may get a small 2 way radio just for safety.

Well the motor had a bad bad vibration after the crab trap incident, prop shaft was straight and the drive shaft was straight. The only thing I can think of that would have been vibrating (and squeaking) would be the crank. Insurance paid a big chunk, I put a few grand with it and got a new 225 SHO, just got it broke in this past weekend. I'm likin' it so far, just need to get Steve to do his magic on the prop and I'll really like it!

Good to know you got your insurance to pick it up for you! Glad your back on the water and hopefully it won't happen again.

I got hung up in a crab trap and it killed the motor promptly. We crawled off in the marsh mud and had to cut it loose with dikes. Spun the prop and best I could tell no bent prop shaft. Got on plane but noticed a vibration at low speed in gear at the next stop. Ran fine all day then coming in it lost power down to 4000 rpms. Shut it down and now it won’t get much over 1000 rpms.

Starts and idles, but super rough.

I change plugs, water separator, fuel filter and med pressure fuel filter every 6-9 months. I run ring free and ethanol free gas only.

It’s in the slip now so I can’t pull plugs till tomorrow.

Has anybody had similar experiences or any advice?
