My first thought was a pump for a homemade SCBA apparatus.

This noodling deal is the biggest issue I have with Oklahoma. It might even be considered a real state if it wasn’t for this.

Yes to gas can. I think the apparatus in the pan is a small gas engine powered air compressor. The yellow "cordage" is actually a cheap PVC air hose as it appears very thick compared to an electrical cord. Part of the air hose assembly is the black tubing. It appears to have a quick-coupling with a red reinforcement grip just to the right of the pan. Any agree with my assessment?
BTW, I'm a Dive Master level in SCUBA, and to try to breathe air from a shop compressor would be a very iffy thing to try. If it is a compressor, it's more likely they use air to "encourage" a fish to leave it's lair. In a huge bubbling of air, they can't fight, nor breathe, so they may give up more easily - just guessing. I know of regulations prohibiting the use of compressed air for collection of lobster or tropical fish in the marine waters, so it must be "effective". Thanks, good answer. I was just curious and agree with your assessment.

No thanks. If there’s something I don’t want to stick my hands in, I just consult Gyn, Uro, or Procto.

You're trying to add a level of sophistication that, as DaveDave can tell you, just does not exist in Oklahoma.

noodling,sky-diving and bungee cord jumping are three things I ain't gonna do.(and I've done some incredibly dumb alcohol inspired things)......as mentioned, if you've ever seen what damage a snapping turtle can do to a boat paddle or large stick, you would not stick your hand where one might be....

found a 50lb+ sticking his head out of a hole in a gvine feeder creek. called up an okie buddy that used to work the bps gun counter to come and get it. it was funny watching his legs out of the water go crazy when that fish got a hold of him. he never got it out. apparently it was living in a beaver den and had plenty of room to back up. guy spent 2 days trying to dig it out from the top but never got it. his arm was scraped up pretty good.
