Buddy and I are hauling his boat somewhere on 7/31. If you could go anywhere with a boat from Port A east, where would you go? I’m not new to saltwater fishing but am new to Texas coast in a boat. Just looking for areas to try.

What boat? Shallow running flats ready? Port O Connor and south. Not a flat ready rig? Matagorda and north.

Should be able to get in some pretty shallow water with that boat. Does it have a tunnel hull and/or a jackplate?

Port A/Corpus area is very diverse and accessible with plenty lodging and food. we do a family thing down there every year. i live on west galveston bay and it's nice too, but awful crowded.

Anywhere in particular in port A? We’re not wade fishermen btw. I don’t know about him but I personally prefer to catch big reds over trout. Or target sharks. I used to take my old boat to Florida and loved how I could catch grouper and bull reds on bridges in relatively shallow water.
Boat doesn’t have a jack plate. Possibly a tunnel. Not sure.

Wading will catch the most this time of year. A lot more comfortable standing in waist deep water than roasting in the boat.
General rule we drift areas and wade spots. Grass flats with potholes hold trout and reds. Trout like the stained water reds like clearer. General things to look for.

no certain area. we rent houses in the area. City By The Sea is a good place to rent one, also Mustang Island or Aransass Pass. all are pretty close to each other. you can fish from Copano to the Land Cut.

Wade fishing is so much fun. Like guts at the old air base on Matagorda. BTW. Coming in there past Chester Island headed directly into ICW in POC my depth finder showed a 40ft hole there. Talked around no one was aware of it. Anybody?
