Can you get a couple 45 pound weight plates or a bag of Sakrete (in a trash bag) and sit it on the front deck of the boat? You could tell quickly if lack of tongue weight is the primary problem.

call these folks and get a set, it will stop your problem. put a set on my 14 f150/tow pkg/off road pkg/5.0 since I pull an 18' trailer with 2 side by sides sometimes. makes pulling the boat a lot better too since I can adjust it with onboard compressor. easy self install if you can read instructions and turn a wrench, not much involved except running air lines. you can also install with no compressor and just use air chuck to fill. think my total system with compressor was around 500 all inclusive, worth every penny imo. https://www.airliftcompany.com/vehicles/chevrolet/silverado-1500/2014/4-wheel-drive/?bed_style=78.7+in.%2F6+ft.+6.7+in.+Bed#l these are the ones I ordered, for parts picture. ![[Linked Image]](https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/71uCLIUZI%2BL._AC_SL1500_.jpg)

Not knocking the air bags, but if the problem is being caused by too little tongue weight or a trailer set up problem all it will do is lighten his wallet by $500.

The issue is probably with the lift kit. The front is engineered for the front suspension to work correctly but the rear is normally just 3" blocks. These are not good. They may get by without towing but even then there are problems with spring "wrap-up" due to the spring being wrong for the new setup since geometry has changed a lot. Springs wear out quicker due to the tall lift block (fulcrum) and larger tires/wheels. When the springs become "soft" they cause this problem and air bags definitely help. Another problem is when larger tires/wheels are put on the stock truck pulling power is usually lost due to the larger diameter tires effectively decreasing the rear gear ratio. The "proper" but expensive lift setup includes new rear springs engineered for that lift and truck with no blocks and ring and pinion gear changes to offset the larger diameter tires...

I guess we should have asked if it was an issue before the lift kit. And if you could post a side pic of the boat and hitch it might help see any problem.

I use the superchips flashpaq on the 14 f150/34s/3.55 gears with 6 spd auto. speedo is dead nut and towing I still get about 14-15 mpg. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/07/full-33597-58888-20190412_164447.jpg)

years ago working in a 4 wheel drive shop we had a lot of new springs built or leafs added. Also had springs re-arched but they didn't last unless leafs were added.
