I took my new kayak out for the maiden voyage. I learned something.....What I learned was that I have a lot to learn LOL! the seat that came with the kayak was loose and came with no instructions but many straps. Apparently I hooked them up wrong and the seat slipped forward. So much so that I pulled muscles in my back attempting to regain a seated position. This was so painful that it took me about an hour to reload the kayak. Well I have since healed, reattached the seat. and gotten past the embarrassment of looking like a drunk gorilla on a kayak. So I'll be giving it another try in a few days. Wish me luck. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.postimg.cc/k4kPLgmf/DSCF0266-846.jpg)
I spent the winter tying flies I'm over 300 now. I'm Ready!!!

Hahaha. Funny. We all look like a drunken gorilla from time to time. Hahaha. Lots of good people on here to fish with. That will help you a lot learning the ropes.

LOL!!!!! Yep My best take on the trip was I learned a lot of what not to do. Probably one of the best lessons I could have learned. Ya have to take the positives where you can..... I have not given up and that's important.
Christian myrick, It does not help to be built like the aforementioned gorilla LOL!!!!
Lmgreeri, One can only hope. My mom always said When you hit rock bottom there is only one direction to go. Trust me I hit rock bottom when I had trouble loading a 76 lb boat on a trailer LOL!!!!

My buddy took a video of me trying to get in my offshore kayak for the first time. It didnt help the surf was choppy. Every time i tried to sit in it i fell off the other side. Finally on the 4th time and after many laughs from people who came with me and some who didnt. This was last year and ive been paddling for almost 40 years. Its part of the game. All in good fun. I love how you can laugh at yourself. I hope you get more fish than you want on the next trip.

We've all been there Steve. Keep swinging. Take care of that back. Paddling is good for keeping your core strength up but not good if your back is hurting. Once you get passed the "learning curve" you'll be a lot more comfortable in the kayak and that's when it's really enjoyable.
You get out of it what you put into it!

Before i got my first kayak I remember day dreaming about how awesome it would be to get out, and how i would catch so much more fish and just tear it up....Then i go out and realized how hard it was learning how to deal with wind, fish, paddle all the same time. I don't think i caught anything the first few times
