Well Dan, some of on here are trying to pass on the wisdom from our grandparents hoping you'll get the message. Don't know about your upbringing but that is no excuse for killing something that can't hurt you. Some adult should have taught you this but just because you're grown doesn't mean you are too old to still learn and modify your morals.

Now rats and mice in your house are destructive and could be dangerous. Not saying these critters shouldn't be considered being gotten rid of. Water snakes are harmless and beneficial to nature. These folks saying all snakes are bad snakes are just relaying a phobia ... an irrational phobia.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools

I agree, but do support you carrying a firearm or 200 of them just in case.

If you did not kill the snakes you would not see as many rats or mice.

I've never killed a snake. I'm trying to kill water snakes as they attempt to board my kayak.

I've only ever killed one mouse. I saw him slipping in the garage and I set some traps...got him!

I spotted a rat recently slinking around the garage... He had heard of my reputation so he fled. I saw how he left the garage so I knew how he was coming in. I was able to patch that area up and block his access. also called an exterminator who did an inspection and said it didn't look like they had set up shop and I shouldn't have a problem.

Haven't had any issues since.

BUT, these water snakes are sent by the devil. Can't fool me...devil.

First I would call Dave Dave as he's the Bigfoot expert.

Then I would try to lure the beast closer with some slim jims. Once he got close I would get his picture and take some video and invite him to have a beer. If I could befriend the legendary beast it wouldould mean millions.

no sense in shooting a Bigfoot, we all know bullets can't hurt them.

Phobias by definition are typically irrational.

I appreciate sharing the wisdom and all, but I'm going to bag me a water snake if they give me the chance!

Wasn't it a snake that tempted Eve? Cost us paradise did it not?? It was not a deer that did that, it was a snake.

I'll murk one soon enough.

The snake in that story was really, well you know, it looks like a snake, but only has one eye.
And the apple wasn’t an apple, but sort of looks like one.

Apples are native to Central Asia, China. So unless Eve was central Asian, it wasn’t an actual apple.

TD, I think that one wasn't real but a figment of Rudyard Kipling's imagination.

Lol..... I have done a lot of time in a float tube. Me and Brother fished Mustang before Fork filled enough to launch ....... I fear a beaver more than a banded water snake BTW. But certianly fear them both. And I ain't talking about the good kind of "Beaver".

So for the record, you are saying that you prefer snake over beaver?

I've seen a lot of beaver and never had an issue. You just have to stroke the beaver properly and buy a flowers remember it's birthday things like that.

Snakes? Pure evil.
