Its that time of the year. Me and the missus had 2 water snakes trying to get in my bass boat last week. I had to whack them with my carolina rod to deter them. My buddy and i on fork once and one kept trying to climb in the back of his ranger. He fires up the big motor and slammed it in reverse. Made water snake sushi.

Figured as much... But you could say something encouraging like, practice your leads by shooting floating sticks or cans from the yak, or spend some time understanding the travel of the round in varied wind directions.

Or even, my newest idea, take the first shot, try to adjust off of that and then empty the cylinder in a spray and pray fashion.

Get a machete or a longsword.

Nice! Good self defense options.

I want to go on the Offense sometimes though.

.22 rat shot, water sneks are just the same as moccasins, die MF die.

I can clearly identify all other land sneks and good ones live.

Friend of mine goes frog-gigging in waders at night . Snakes are drawn to his headlamp so he carries a Louisville Slugger to bop 'em on the head when they swim too close . He's been bitten my a cottonmouth while noodling but never on a frog hunt .

He seems to enjoy the challenge . He's also a re-located Okie and a beekeeper . Imagine (if you will) that Derek and Hop had a child . That would be him .

It’s Memorial weekend and Lake Patrol/Police/Game Wardens are out everywhere on public lakes. The probably won’t see the humor in some Yahoo shooting snakes with a BB gun that looks like a .357 Magnum. Make sure you have a couple of open beers on board and tell the authorities you don’t have a license like they do on Live PD. Maybe CCTX could film it for us.

I'm no outdoorsman.

Nor am I a mechanic, electrician, landscaper, arborist, plumber, roofer, hairstylist, politician, writer, musician, IT pro, I also don't do fences, not a philosopher, also not a dog trainer nor am I a painter... however I can do all of those and more just well enough to make me dangerous...and make things fun!

lived in Miss. delta for several years and didn't have alligators back then so some of those oxbow lakes were full of snakes...we fished out of jon boats and hung our stringers of fish over the side which is about like trolling for snakes....I used a sculling paddle to whack water snakes with...I also carried a single shot .22 with hollow point shorts which was perfect for cottonmouths.....

Learn to shoot with muscle memory and do not rely on the sights. You can be crazy good up to 10 yards. I hit a running mouse at 10 yards with my pellate gun.
