Anyone replaced their carpet with seadek? I am considering it and just wanted to get some feedback from anyone who has tried it. I ordered some samples and waiting for them to arrive.

My neighbor went with Safe Floor and it looks and feels great. He really likes it but I haven't been on the lake with it, only on the trailer. I was going to get it in my old Nitro but bought a new to me boat that is an intra-coastal model without carpet.

You’ll need new doors. Sea de k doesn’t need the huge gaps carpet does.

I doubt that I will have a door problem. With carpet wrapped on the doors they are a really snug fit that wont let the water drain properly. I could use a little more space around them. It's an older Champion and maybe they didn't use as thick of a carpet back then. The one area of concern is the bottom floor between the consoles. It doesn't look like one piece will go front to back and side to side so will have to use two pieces and seam it. Not sure what that will look like as Seadek says not to seam it as it will gap a little over time.

I have seen people saying you have issues if your hook get stuck in the material, it will can leave a mark. I have seen some Express Boats with them in and it looks pretty sharp that are new.

Yea, I heard that too. It is just foam so that is something to consider. I looked at those pictures and yea his gaps are pretty big but my doors don't seem to have gaps like that so I think that it would be ok. Of course they don't have templates for my boat but I do have a large cnc router in the garage and so I could get the 2 layered material and route edges and could get around a seam that way. The price to do it yourself doesn't seem too bad and I would like to have the cushion as well as it not getting soaked and holding the water in the carpet for days. I'm just not looking forward to removing all the glue under the carpet.
Is that what they use in the express boats? I wasn't sure if it was that or just vinyl.

Here is where I asked about is and the guy from the original link gave advice on how to remove it and thickness used for each area. That being said I’m like you my older boat has thin carpet with 0 gap on doors. I have tested a small area where carpet is coming up, to remove the glue. With the scraper it was pretty easy. Now to get it perfectly clean that’s the hard part and might need the power tools. http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php?topic=151640.0

I have it on my bass boat. The gentleman came out and custom measured every piece for every door, angle, radius, etc. I’ve had it on for 2 1/2 years and really no issues other than it does have a few stains on it. If you do decide to go that route I recommend a medium to dark one. The lighter color that I have stains fairly easy.

Also, care to share who you use to measure and cut the pieces for you?

I had a company out of Lewisville do it. Mine’s an intracoastal so no carpet to remove. Had it installed to prevent boat rash on my rods. They came to my house in Rockwall and took the measurements in about 45 minutes. He came out a couple weeks later and installed in about 2 hours. I’ll PM his information in a bit.

I had it installed in our Cobalt, nice stuff, I think it would be great in a bass boat, the hook snagging and staining would be my concerns.

It’s not cheap. Good stuff. I would love to have it on the front deck of my bay boat 22 Majek Extreme

..... [color:#CC0000]Safe Floor Marine[/color]This is what my neighbor had put in his bass boat, it is great! It is rubber, not foam. It is not sheets that glue down, it is a custom install, they have a location to install in the DFW area. I doubt hooks or fish slime will be a problem with this!

How does it feel standing on the deck all day with that? I would think it might be about the same as carpet without pad. I may need to check this out as well.

I put it in the floor of my 2019 Basscat a couple of weeks ago. I used the sheet material and cut it to fit. My original plan was to pull the carpet and use it as a template for the SeaDek but the carpet did not survive the removal process so I ended up using cardboard to create a template. Impressions so far are good, the carpet would stay wet long after being in the rain or even washing the boat - the SeaDek dries almost instantly, I like the look of the SeaDek, it looks cleaner, I went with the storm grey but I probably should have gone with the dark grey to match the carpet on the decks, it is much cooler than carpet in the sun, it has more padding than the one year old carpet that is matted on my decks. Like I mentioned, I've only had it for a couple of weeks but I like it and I think it was worth the time it took to install, if I was going to do the entire boat I would have it done professionally. Message me and I will send you some pictures.

I thought about safe floor but from what I understand it gets pretty expensive to have them do it and I don't want to invest that much in an older boat. I am still on the fence about doing seadek at the moment. I might wait and do it this winter. Will give me time to get all the measurements to create a file for the cnc to do all the cutting to have a better install.
