Did you have issues setting up your DC? I have heard of some, but never have inquired as to what those issues are. I was able to set mine pretty quick and I have not had any issues. I adjusted the spool until no side-to-side play, put the selector on #2 (I am using 15lb Big Game) and its been flawless since Dec. I want to order a few more, but if they are usually a PITA to setup, I might just buy the K.

I absolutely hate my DC. I apparently have not set it up correctly. I adjusted mine the exact same way you did except with 20lb Big Game. I backlash about 75% of the time on #1-#3.

Get you a Tatula SV TW. It is a lot easier to set up for no backlash than the DC. From my experience the DC works well with baits that are 3/8 oz and heavier but has trouble with lighter weights, but that is just my observation.

I'd be more than happy to let you cast mine the next time I'm at fork. Heck, If you live on fork, I can meet you in mineola just about any day and let you cast mine. I keep 15lb Big Game on mine. PM me if interested.

Everybody raves over these things... I have a Chronarch from Shimano and love it, but I'm not sure about these DC models... Should I go SLX DC or Curado DC if I wanted to get one to experiment with?

I use 20lb. Mono on big swimbaits, it's not on a Curado DC reel though.

Not to thread hijack, but I’m using the Daiwa Tatula Elite for 1/4 oz crankbaits on 12 lb Inviz-x flouro. I have the brakes turned way down and it will bomb without practically zero backlashes ever. I’m very pleased.

Anyone else use the Tatula Elite?

No problems with mine but I've only had them out for maybe 10-15 trips, so I'm a long way from 200 trips. Take me at least 3 yrs to get in that many trips.

So, how much better than the SV TW 103 XS is the Elite?

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Yes I have several Elites as well as the SV, CT, and 150 models. Also have several Steez reels.

Daiwa makes fantastic reels.

The SV model helps if you need controlled casting for less backlashes. It works great for skipping docks because of the way you can set it up not to backlash. If you don't have problems with backlashing a reel the Elite is awesome for long distance casting.

No I didn't have issues setting up the DC it just takes a little longer to set it up just right than the Tatula SV TW. The Tatula SV TW is cheaper than the Chronarch DC also. I have a Shimano SLX that I really like also but it is not the DC model.
