We had Palestine and Richland Chambers on our list in order to not be near as many crowds. Any opinion on those? I looked at those two lakes and for Richland Chambers we would have to cross the entire metroplex on Friday nights to get there. We decided we did not want to do that. Palestine was a little the same (crossing the metroplex from Allen) but more expensive than where we bought.

It would have to be Texoma. The fishing is just too good. I would stomach the storms.

Even though Texoma was always atop our list we did look at Cedar Creek, just could not get past having to drive through Dallas on Fridays.

If they ever develop Monty, that's where I'm buying. Hoping when I retire in 5 years the lake will be starting to be being developed. I hope this happens....but everything I hear around town is that its highly unlikely. Luminant wont even open the Monty County Park ramp much less sell it off to be developed. Only the plant itself is held by a development company. That piece of land between Monty Cove in Sandlin and Monty itself would be a great place to be, I agree! If anyone else has some additional knowledge, please share!

If its purely about fishing, then I would go Fork then Sandlin. Cypress Springs is awesome but I am biased as we've had a place there since 2009. I just don't fish here that much especially from mid May - Sept due to the boat traffic and washing machine this lake becomes.

Oh, they would definitely sell the entire place to a developer for the right price, but they have not gotten an offer for that "right" price. The above is correct in that the recent sale only purchased the plant and the land it sits on.

We purchased water front land on CC next to the Log Cabin ramp. Fishing is ok, but the wife liked the restaurants and recreation the lake offers. 1:12 door to door with no traffic from DFW. Hoping to build on it this summer.

Hopefully sooner than later. Thanks Chris!

Just give me a spot up on the far north end of Holbrook with a nice log cabin, nice boat & dock, couple big dogs that’s all I’ll ever need ... and a swimming pool. A cabin, a boat, a dock, big dogs, a swimming pool .... and a lamp, that’s all I’ll ever need.
