Best backup in the league and he will push Dak to be better. Interesting tie in...2010 TCU team that Dalton QB'd beat Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl. QB for Wisconsin? Scott Tolzien - current Cowboys Assistant Coach.
Useless trivia: Who are the only current roster players to appear in a game in Texas Stadium? Andy Dalton - 2005 state championship game (Katy vs. Soutlake Carroll) & L.P. Ladoucuer

He's an upgrade over Cooper Rush
How do you know when he hasn't been given a shot? A 'seasoned vet' is not always the answer. People argued Bledsoe and Testaverde were better than Romo. They were pretty awful. And they are the upper end of Jerry's sloppy seconds, as were Kitna and Orton. And let's look at some of Jerry's other brilliant decisions on second hand QBs such as Bernie Kosar, Brad Johnson, Tony Banks and Ryan Leaf. Dalton ended the season 39th in the league with a 78 QBR (not to mention under 60% completions for a 6 yard average). 39th! Last I looked there are only 32 teams. That takes talent...bad talent, but talent.

Can't believe I forgot to mention Matt Cassel and Brandon Weeden.

Cooper Rush probably didn't sleep very well during the entire season! He can probably relax now knowing he will be #3.
Just one more cast!

Read a report that since Rush is costing them $2M as a 3rd stringer now and the fact he was brought in under a former HC that chances are the Cowboys will go with DiNucci for QB3 at the rookie minimum and let Rush go.

I don't have a feel for what Rush is or isn't. I am just a firm believer in churning the roster and developing your own players. I think they have 6 qbs now. Let's have some real competition.

Maybe Jerry has grown a set and will let Dak sit this year then tag him again next year. See how he likes sitting out 2 years, just a thought. But then again Jerry has a reputation for folding.

I respect McCarthy , I really don't believe he would be on board with signing A Dalton and releasing C Rush if he didn't believe that gave them the best chance to be successful.
GOD is good!
