Yes, that's gouging. All depends on competition. Maybe all the little stations in Graham got together and created that monopoly, having to pay more for the convenience. Can't do that in bigger and more competitive environments.

I don’t know where some of you guys are buying gas but where I’m at I have several gas stations I can go to if I don’t wait till I’m empty before I buy gas-
Some are more expensive than others and I have a choice to buy there or not-

The times you sold at a loss aren't relevant to now. What your profit margin needs to include is enough to cover the risk that you may not get any more product at all, or that your supply chain may be interrupted and you'll have periods of time with empty shelves and nothing to sell.

Is it price gouging when you pay $5 or more for a 16 ounce bottle of water inside a sports event or theme park? How about $10-$12 for a whole case at a grocery store during supply interruptions, even though you can sometimes get them on sale for $5?

If I were a retailer again, I'd need enough profit to ensure that I would continue to stay in business after things had settled. Being "socially responsible" does no good if you end up drawing unemployment.

I think there is more price inflation in the hotel/motel business than any other. Disasters, holidays, graduations, etc. have them raising rates a large % more than normal times.

I was saying this from the point of view of working as an insurance adjuster and having to be onsite the next day after a disaster.

I was in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and the hotel doubled their rate over night to $215.00 per night. I complained but still paid the rate because they had electricity and running water when other hotels didn't

It happens in every disaster that I have ever been to.

Yeah, we have a bit of that, if you get gas at the 3 stations in aledo they are usually 20 to 30 cents more than the interstate gas stations. I dont know if I'd call it gouging so much as convenience fee.

yes.

During normal economic times.....charge whatever the heck you want. During a declaration of national/state emergency and a highly abnormal economic situation.....you better be sure you don't jack your prices up excessively to take advantage.....it's not rocket science.

Not 20 to 25 cents here but drive east 10 miles from Fate to Caddo Mills and gas is almost always 10 dents or more less. Even the Shell station that competes with truck stops is lower. If you want to see relatively high gas prices drive 281 between Cleburne and Lampassas. Glen Rose, Hico, & Hamilton are always much higher than further south. I never buy gas in those towns.

We have a very ;prominent station here that does not appear to be associated with any brand of gas. It is interesting to me that they charge significantly more at some stations than others withing a mile of each other. They always meet the competition of walmart or Stripes if they are within sight of them. I'm ok with it, I just don't go there.
