Having gps and maps with contour line is pretty nice.
Speaking of maps, look into genesismaps.com. It is a social mapping site. You download your sonar logs and in a few days you can download a new lake map with information from you latest logs reflected. Maps are free. Usually do not cover the whole lake, but have good coverage around places you would usually put in and areas that are covered are very accurate.
