Working from home has taught me some things. I am not going to go into all of them but this is an example. I have two small lizards that live on my porch. I watch them daily on breaks. I always thought animals spend their days running around all scared that they will get eaten and at the same time trying to find food to eat. I have discovered this is not necessarily the case. These two lizards spend the early morning hours chasing and eating small bugs. Then once their bellies are full, the male one flares his neck thingy out to catch the attention of the female one. She acts all coy at first...but then submits. These guys seem to go after it for hours! I mean like all day! Then as the day gets late, they go back to filling their bellies on small bugs and sleep for the night in a small crevice of my porch's trim. I am not sure if I feel sorry for them for their simple lives, or envy them...

Here is a pic of the female. I know not the greatest pic. But this is her feeding as the sun set. The hussy was probably hungry from her day full of sinfulness.

I have 2 cardinals that are always around the front porch and yard, they are pretty cool to watch.
Last yr we had a mocking bird that would set on a brick ledge by the back window and peck on the window,
then a couple minutes later he was at the front window doing the same thing, this went on for a couple months.

The dominate male. Which I assume is the dominate male if that's how it works in lizard life. Hauled arse from the southside shrubs a couple days ago to the somewhat southwest batch about 20' away. He's looking at total domination.

Yep.

Iโ€™ve got a large female thatโ€™s staked out the beehive for her territory. Sheโ€™ll eat her belly full then wander off to the magnolia and find the male. Theyโ€™re everywhere you look.

See that is the problem I see with my lizard couple. I think the male is the only one for as far as the eye can see. Same with the female. I wanted to see him fight for her...but nope, no males to challenge him. He just gets after it with the one and only female. I don't think that is how it's suppose to be done. I seriously think they are brother and sister.
