Gates have been closed at night for a number of years now.

Yeah, I usually launch before 6 at county. This is the first time I’ve ever seen the gate locked

So.....I saw a picture on Facebook saying that the Bandera Co park is closed again, due to “low water”??? Sounds like another BS excuse to keep people away.

Hum-mm hmmm that doesn't sound right, certainly not due to low water. She's being drained that's for sure!

The park has been open, however shutting down early last Saturday at 10am and Sunday at 11am due to over capacity, but not to boat launching.

Went back and tried to find the picture that was posted and I can’t remember which page it was on. bang
Might have been a fake news story, but it was definitely the county park, who knows with that bunch....As I was searching for the pic, I came across a post that showed TPWD stocking 55k hybrid stripers into the lake. Good bye bass fishing and good bye any baitfish.

Hopefully those 55K hybrids fattened up the bass that are in there.

Just one more cast!

Right Fake News for sure on the closure of the park! Stocking of Palmetto Bass was back in 2018.

Looks like it was this year??? There aren’t any years on the post though, comments are all from a week or so ago.
I wonder if the gate was closed on the same day that they were dumping these, that would make more sense now OR that guy might have been trying to trick people into not going to the park.

I did confirm the 55,000 Hybrids were stocked in Medina last week, the TP&W stocking page has not been updated.
Thanks for the Facebook line that obviously slipped by me.

Debra, do you know if TPWD ever stocks baitfish? I have wondered about that for some time now.

Also, is that you in the advertisement with Mrs. Zaldain? (You’ll obviously know what I’m talking about if it’s you. smile )

On Monday of this week I got to the county park around 6:30 AM. Main chain link gate was closed with a sign that said lake closed due to low water. The bypass for the boat ramp was open so went on in and launched.
Surprised when I got back to the ramp around 3PM and the park was FULL of people along the shoreline. Not sure if the policy changed and they did not take the sign down from the previous day or ?????. The county commissioner was sitting in his truck at the gate as I pulled out to leave so maybe he was controlling the number of people entering.

Further up on this thread I had already posted answers to questions in red

Hours are 8am to 8pm, these are the hours and have been for years, that wording has always been on the main gate.

The loop/road is open 24/7 for boat launching only, always is and has been for years

Yes to controlling the number of people entering, when its at capacity the gate is shut. Last weekend both days closed at noon, not to boats that want to launch.

The boat traffic was horrible at Medina yesterday and its not even a Holiday yet !
Fishing was not good either, not one fisherman I spoke with said they had done well.
The lake continues to fade away and some ramps will be unusable soon.

Joe's Place was at capacity at 10am and shut the gate. From the looks of it Red's Cove Marina was getting there as well.
