My mom hasn't gotten hers yet. She's on SS and makes a lot less than sisters and I. I'm really not sure how they are figuring it out. We all bank at the same credit union, too. I know paper checks are being distributed by income levels with lowest incomes first, but not sure about the direct deposit ones.

I’m assuming the majority of the people posting up pictures of their boat and truck setups will not be getting a check.

Went and read up on it. It’s a tax credit on next years income tax return.
So short answer is, no it is not taxable income. I think you are getting next years refund now
|

I’m sure that there is either no method to their madness or some convoluted logic with respect to distribution. At some point, they’ll encourage those to call a “stimulus” hotline where you will: (1) never be able to get thru, (2) get bounced around from menu to menu, (3) out on infinite hold, (4) finally get a live person whom doesn’t have a clue, and (5) be provided with the same number that you called with instructions to call back “as your call is very important to us” and “all of our customer service representatives are busy helping others”...

The payment is not included in your 2020 income tax liability, but it is certainly not tax free. Taxpayers will be paying for this in full, plus the amounts awarded to those low income folks that do not pay income taxes, for many years to come. Think of it as loans to you and your deadbeat neighbor and you co-signed his loan.

Nothing yet. Wonder in what order they are sending them out? Lowest incomes first. It's random. Lowest incomes are not getting theirs 1st necessarily. I have some family members who I know what their AGI was for 2019 and they have not received anything.

Definitely not a tax refund anticipation loan. You have been reading too much internet carp. Have not seen mine. I squeaked in with HOH status by claiming daughter. I recieved tax refund a month ago. I freaked out today checking my brokerage account until I realized I made a nice size transfer out of checking. Still very happy with today's gains.
