I had one that size or a smidge bigger on a little glass eagle claw ultra light and 4lb test at a crappie dock on Belton lake years ago. Played that fish for about twenty minutes getting him unwrapped from all kinds of stuff and when I went to net him the net bumped the line and snapped. Trust me I know the feeling. At least it was a Hybrid and not a double digit wild rainbow.

Second time is a charm. Even though I hooked it on a crappie / bluegill fly with a weaker hook and it got wrapped around a tree branch I still managed to actually land my buddy this time. I also caught a half pound bluegill and Ben caught a 5 lb. catfish. But the white bass left the creek and headed back to the lake. The hybrid officially weighed 5.81 lbs.

I knew this couldn't last long.. For all of those that are wondering this is Jerdelle creek off of FM1948.. Rain on Friday, Saturday & Sunday last week pushed the creek up enough to get the whitebass and hybrids up into it but when the creek returned to normal the fish left in a hurry.. So by Thursday only a few stragglers were left wondering where the party went!

I went out Wed afternoon with a client. We ran up Yegua, brought home 12. Water temp was 73, muddy conditions, trash, and a good flow
If I fished for money.........I'd be broke.

When/where do the shad start spawning on the banks? From the report I got yesterday they have already started. A couple guys fished out in front of the dam and caught 6 hybrids and 20 white bass. They've been lined up along the dam for the last couple of weeks.
