It may not be over for China and South Korea. They got their rate of spread under control by shutting almost everything down for a month, they are not back to normal yet. They will probably see another spike when they go back to work. Keeping everything shutdown is not sustainable but the virus is still active. I think we will have intermittent shutdowns on and off again until a vaccine is available.

I was just going off your example you used with Italy. I suspect when the dust settles we'll end up better off than Italy as a percentage of deaths. But that's not to say we'll have less than 1/12000 people dead, because Italy is going to end up with a much worse ratio than they currently have at the moment. I'm not sure if I'm explaining that well. My main point is I guarantee you more than 5-6 people will die in Houston. But anyways, we both agree it's a serious situation.

NBC News has total cases at 29,000 which is way lower than the world clock. They just broke in with that report.

Just to clarify. I’m not advocating against taking precautions or saying this isn’t a potential disaster. I just don’t think the news reports vs the actual numbers make sense right now. When this is said and done and we have the complete picture, I could have been completely wrong so use common sense.

Unfortunately we ran a call earlier where the patient has a chronic illness and chances are they will pass away at the hospital within days. Pretty heartbreaking hearing the patient and family saying their final goodbyes since the patient will not be allowed any visitors. Pretty sobering to see what some of the unintended consequences of these restrictions may cause. Heartbreaking but I understand why they are doing what they are doing.
