Guys have side scan and livescope still can't catch 12lbs. Guys that were catching them without it are catching them with it... I use my Carbons with upgraded Active Imaging transducers to control my music.

several years ago a buddy and I fished 3-4 days in the spring on Amistad and it was some of the most interesting fishing I've ever done...water was gin clear and bass were in middle of the spawn (and yes bass do spawn 20 feet deep if water is clear)...the interesting part was we could ease down a bank for 100 yards and not see a fish then the next 100 yards there would be a fish or two every ten yards... the reason I mention this is that there would be no discernable difference in a stretch of bank without fish and a bank loaded with fish...my buddy and I both wondered how many stretches of fishless banks we had fished in not so clear lakes.... fast forward 20 years and both ott defoe and hank cherry just won big tournaments with fish they were able "find and see" with their electronics.... I retired from fishing tournys a few years ago but I'm told that except for spring spawn time, most of the tournament winners on Eufaula are guys who fish offshore ledges/brushpiles and they don't make a cast until they see active fish... is tournament fishing going to turn into who has the best electronics? or maybe skill at reading electronics will replace years of fishing experience? The ability of an angler to properly interpret what they are seeing on their marine electronics always has been and always will play a huge factor in their ability to succeed against the competition. I don't think it will necessarily replace years of fishing experience but rather help an angler with more on the water experience using those electronics learn when to stop and fish and when to keep on moving. I personally prefer fishing offshore and will not stop and make a single cast unless I see a group of fish that are in a certain position and relating to bait fish that also will be in a certain grouping when they are being fed upon by larger fish. It is amazing how quickly the technology is advancing to give anglers a very clear view of what is around them in both shallow water and in deep water.
Respectfully,
Stephen Fatherree

As much as I admire these new units, they still do not show everything. As clear as the shots are of some stumps, brushpiles etc. there is places where things that I know, is there, it does not show up.
