In over 50 yrs. of fishing, and tournaments off & on for 44 of them. I've never saw anyone unhook a fish, before getting it out of the water ( with exception of being entangled in something) especially in a tournament. Whether the fish was snagged or hooked in the mouth I cannot say. But he didn't help himself in the public's opinion, the way he did things.
