As we have closed all Topgolf locations, there are now about 25k Bay Hosts, Bar tenders, porters, cooks, mechanics, etc. etc. out of work with our company.
CEO announced everyone would be paid for 2 weeks from the last day they worked and the company would continue to pay the full premium for their health insurance for the duration...until they can return to work. So no one loses coverage due to the lay offs.
Pretty good deal I think... but a few comments I am seeing on our internal social media sites are saying its a raw deal?? Good deal or bad deal?

Good deal. Businesses are struggling as well as their employees. They can't afford to pay full salaries for the duration with no money incoming.
On the flip side, I understand where all of those bad comments are coming from. People are as scared of going weeks or months without a paycheck as they are of the coronavirus.

2 weeks pay plus indefinite health care, on top of whatever stimulus is going to go out, on top of being able to file for unemployment benefits......seems like a fair deal to me. Better than most are going to get I would imagine.

what is avg age of those employees? 30? Yes of course he can see it, but its not like your going to go fire someone because they expressed they did like what they were offered. We encourage folks to be transparent with their feelings/concerns. Its not the military, its beer and burgers and golf lol. I would say the avg age of the venue staff is under 30. The company as a whole skews younger, which I dig, keeps things lively and fresh but yes, the down side is some are prone to complain and take things for granted.

Hopefully this highlights to everyone the importance of a healthy emergency fund. In my opinion everyone should have enough cash in the bank to cover monthly expenses for at least 3 months. Ideally 6 months. This means before you invest, before you buy a new truck, before you upgrade your apartment or house, before you have kids. Build that emergency fund. I know that is sometimes easier said than done, but I don't care how little you make someone else just down the street making less has figured out how to do it.

Yes hop you are right, it is a great company to work for. I got VERY lucky to land here. There is a genuine, sincere, culture that values associates and guests before money. But there is plenty of money, or there was lol.
Not like where I worked before, lots of good people there, very smart people, made lots of life long friends there, but its culture is that of the evil empire, money is all that matters at all costs. Employees are totally disposable, customers dont mean chit, back stabbing and gaming the system are encouraged... not a good company.

That's a good deal. If I'm an employee I'm going to count on that pay and in the meantime start looking for other work. Some friends of mine put in applications to Amazon for some kind of customer service job that they can work from home for $15/hr. At least its enough to stop some of the bleeding in the meantime. This probably isn't going away anytime soon. Its frightening how many people refuse to take personal responsibility and literally live paycheck to paycheck. It has nothing to do with being wealthy or rich and everything to do with personal responsibility.

Raw deal? Should be at least 4 weeks? If they did that you probably wouldn't have a chance of returning to that job because the company might not exist.
Assuming that the average of each weekly check was $500 (and I'm sure it's more that that) that will be $12.5 million per week. Not many companies out there that can give $50 million to their staff and still be around to hire them back. That would be a lot of liquidity.

Take the 2 weeks pay and go work for a grocery chain as an emergency stocker. They are hiring thousands of folks.
