Hey guys, thinking of taking my kids to do some fishing below the dam this weekend. Hows the water levels looking? Any deeper pools downstream a little?

Any reports from below the dam? I took a drive up there this morning and saw a few people fishing at the wall and a few on the rocks. Didn't see any catching.

Hey Guys! I've been checking the discharge report and noticed they are releasing 15k csf of water now. Has anyone been by to see if the stripers are back on?

Answering my own post here... No fish. I asked everyone I saw up there and there was no fish. There were birds feeding but no one was catching anything so must be too early still.

Thanks for the update. Sad how this thread has died. I really enjoy fishing this area. Just haven't been in a while as I have been busy with kids sports and building up my boat.

Hm. I'm pretty confident they're in there, but I haven't been up yet.
I'm waiting for the releases to drop back to the normal generation cycle so I can get out there with the fly gear.

I'm never had a problem catching stripers in cold water below spillways, so that I don't think that would be the issue.
I will mention that the river completely changed last fall, like in the course of a week - water clarity was bad, algae sprouted overnight on rocks in the water where it wasn't before, and the fishing shut off.

Has anyone been lately? I would love to catch some stripers in the tail race and fished this spot years ago (with no luck). It is about 1.5 hour trip and figured I would ask before making the drive. If reports are no good at this time then I will likely wait a few weeks for the spawn to turn on full steam. Thanks in advance for any input. Tight Lines - Ken.

I'm curious what the conditions are like as well. I know that we are about to get some rain the next couple days which hopefully will get the water level up a bit. Next week is spring break and I'm hoping to get my boys out fishing with me.

Caught a River Unicorn last night. Revived and released after about 10mins of reviving. It was a long fight on my ML Bone Daddy rod, Concept Z and 10lb braid with 10lb leader. Snagged him right in the snout while fishing a Megabass Vision 112. Thought i hooked up to the world record striper for a second. Lol. awesome thanks for reviving him

Since were still waiting for the water to warm up, question on line: Has anyone had any issues throwing 10lb braid when the water is being released? I'm reevaluating my line choices lately to go as small as possible to gain distance. I was looking at that Paddlefish Fish-Whisperer landed on 10lb braid and seems like I shouldn't be that worried. Thoughts?
