This morning while driving to the lake I contemplated calling my guests and pushing back our 7:45 start time due to thick fog, but I could see the moon and figured it would clear.

7:30 I met Ron and Michael at Cedar Breaks Park. Ron might be relocating to the area and wanted an idea of what the fishing was like at Gtown. As we left the cove the fog was thick - 5mph was our max speed. Our conditions only got worse. Dead calm and less than 100’ visibility. We could hear people talking and boats running, but had no idea where they were. I stood ready with an air horn in hand. I will fish and catch fish in dead calm conditions, but thick fog has always been tough fishing for me. Today was no different!

We made a few different stops - one fish here / one fish there (21-46’). The fish were there, they just wouldn’t get interested.
The fog finally cleared enough to see about 10:30 and completely clear by 11am.

Once the fog cleared we set up in 31’ mid lake and the fish finally perked up. We had about 20 fish before the fog cleared, once these fish slowed we had 67 and about 30 minutes left to fish. I wanted to get a hybrid in the boat!

Last stop was my known hybrid area, 37’ and we had active fish, but not much that looked like hybrid stripers. At 12:28 I hooked into a better fish and handed the rod of to Michael who got to fight the only hybrid caught today. (It was short of the 18” minimum)
At trip end we had 76 on the clicker.

After a horrible start the last 1.5 hrs were pretty good!

We caught fish with both jigging slabs and Zman plastics cut off to make them smaller.
