They're even worse

Red's Cove opened its ramp this past weekend again. Still nothing on the Bandera County Ramp.

How packed was it? I finish finals next week, and need to get out on the water.

It was packed !!!! They were lined up outside the entrance on 271 back to Walley's.

Bandera County Park will lift its temporary closure due to COVID-19 and reopen this Friday May 1st.

I used the county ramp this weekend to get out and run the boat as it had been sitting up for a while, They were turning away people as they had reached their restricted capacity of people in the park. Only boats launching and leaving were being allowed in after the capacity was reached. people were not doing mush to spread out and the dock is out of water; which means beaching boats. swimmers were in the way of the quick sloping banks. will not be going back; at least not on weekends during the summer months.

Did you get to fish, or just run the boat?

This was yesterday Sunday at the county ramp on at 10am it was insane the number of rec boats, skiers and of course the jet skis, it was packed. I loaded up shortly after this and left the fish biting.

I thought the same thing! The line of people on the bottom left at the dock I couldn't figure out what that was all about. Wanted to motor closer, but the jet skies were just horrible in front of the ramp.

Reason # 9,937,236 to just open up everything like normal and the high risk stay sheltered.

I hope they learned a lesson that closing the boat ramps just makes everything 100X worse as everyone congregates at the one lone ramp instead of spreading people out....Made zero sense, when people were still allowed to crowd into the grocery stores.

Since when have they locked the gates at the county ramp? Got there at 6 this morning, and the dang gate was locked. Had to drive all the way to reds.

They've locked the gate for years. Used to be a loop/road around the gate, not sure if it’s still there or not, I quit going to medina.

^^^This^^^ Yep as long as I can remember they have. Hours are 8am to 8pm

The loop/road is open 24/7 for boat launching only.

I only been going to medina for a few of years now, and the only time I drive around the county park to launch is when Reds isn't open.
I've launched @5am and 10pm for night fishing during summer hot months. Park was never locked. I think this may be more a pandemic issue, but might cause them to lock it going forward.
