I say it is ok as long as he did not drop the tree there in the first place to keep others out...

If there is no rule against it, I see no problem. Other teams fishing could come in behind them and fish the same water. They didn't put a chain across it to keep other out.

I've done this a few times, mixed results. The best I've ever seen was Biffle and Jim Carnell in a bassmaster tournament, can't remember where it was, throwing down a giant piece of carpet over some rocks and jumping their boats into backwater. They kept dropping the lake an inch or two everyday, Carnell didn't chance it the last day and Biffle won it.

I carried a saw and a grapple hook.(and will again) I had more chainsaw burns in my carpet than I could count

I don't however muddy water up or stick fish on the day before , I think those are Richard moves.

I have had countless people give up on a bed fish right in front of me and then go big motor over em so no one else would have a shot at em. Also a Richard move.

Your overlooking the guys that chainsaw trees off the bank at night and drag them out for fresh green leafy brushpiles before a tournament...

i Wouldn’t use a saw on tournament day,but that’s just me.Then again I wouldn’t muddy the water or sore mouth a lot of bed fish because I didn’t think I had a chance to fish for them. Both are well you know what they are.

I'm pretty damn competitive, but who goes around intentionally ruining other peoples spots? Do you drop old auto batteries on brush piles too?
One of the reasons I don't fish tourneys anymore, too many richard heads out there doing stuff like this.

I remember that situation, it was a BASS tourney on Richland Chambers. Seems like it was Mark Menendez, I could be wrong on that but he was disqualified for his effort. Ethics here is up to the individual I suppose, the water was supposed to be fishable by all anglers, which it wasn't so hence the DQ. I would be okay with it in my case, the man used some ingenuity to access the fish.

If a log is blocking a creek and you pull it out with your boat and a rope without leaving your boat that is no different than using a saw whether it be man powered, battery, or gas.

Access is access.

I don't have a clue how to use a graph but I can drive a boat in shallow water, that said I am not gonna belly ache when a guy who dominates with live scope kicks my tail. You pick your poison.

People ruining others water isn't a strategy. You just aren't good enough to compete without being a dinkhead.

I doubt this is true, you don't get your boat number until the meeting which is after practice and lake is off limits.

Are you taking the tree with you? Otherwise I have an issue with dropping more hazards in the lake.

When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip!

I always thought it was be fun to have a bass tournament where there is a 50 hp motor limit and no depth finders are allowed.

Same guys that win with the electronics and gear will be the same ones winning without it.

read the bassfan article....Dudley is why they changed it to where you didn't find out your boat number til after practice days were over...
