For fishing merit badge, they need to catch two different species. Since you are at Ceder Creek, Purtis Creek is a great place to camp for Scouts and with red wigglers and minnows would likely catch two different kinds of fish. Perch (bluegill) are great eating and easy to catch on wigglers and Bass or crappie will eat the minnows. A run over to the freshwaters fisheries Center there in Athens(not too far from Purtis) is educational/fun and they have a catfish pond as well.

That’s what it was named when I was in scouts in the 70’s. Several small spring fed lakes on the property with some BIG bass.......and alligators!
