What more is there for him?

That’s pretty impressive and ordinarily that kind of accomplishment would place him amongst the few legends in the industry. Too bad what he will be most remembered for by most is being one of the primary B. Duckett shills to help him sell a bill of goods to a bunch of fellow anglers. Again, I equate him to someone like Pete Rose; betrayed his fellow peers and the industry that brought him all the fame and fortune.

What’s typical in this day and age, is that is the type of thing that’s rewarded by the media powerhouses. So yeah, he’ll be alright. Pete Rose being an example again, where he has been a long time commentator on MLB types of TV broadcasts; and cable news is chock full of handsomely paid commentators who are just like him, long time ago disgraced & corrupt crooks.

I think you guys are overlooking that he is one of the hardest working guys off the water, and being a stake holder in MLF , he most certainly had many more responsibilities than normal to get year one to be a success. He will be back, just wait and see.

KVD’s never leaving BPT. He’ll find his groove but I don’t think you’ll see that type of dominance in BPT ever. The style creates more parity.

Such a debate on it. If you notice though, none of the older anglers will give it to KVD. They always say Clunn or Martin.

Sorry Grout-Scout but I think I qualify as one of the older anglers (66 years old that still watches 8 track videos of fishing shows like Bassmaster I taped back in the 70's) and grew up watching Rick Clunn, Larry Nixon, Guido Hibdon, Tom Mann and others but even though they grew up with a lot less technology and equipment I think KVD pretty much is the best fisherman of them all. I personally always respected Rick Clunn and even have more admiration for what he has done lately at his age I feel like KVD has been the best.

I meant the older Professional Anglers. Bass Talk Live podcast has had Zell Rowland, Larry Nixon, Rick Clunn, Jimmy Houston on and none of those guys said KVD was the best. Which does surprise me, because he pretty much whooped all of them for a lot of their careers. cheers

MHO is he is similar to Tiger Woods. Arguably the best ever, help bring in a younger crowd, and it's just harder to win now because competition has gotten better(at electronics, research, etc). KVD, like Tiger, still flexes from from time-to-time. I remember same convo on here few years back and he won couple times in same year cheers

I seriously think the man is wise enough to have made the right decisions for himself, family, and sponsors. And to think that he will only be remembered by buying into Boyd’s ideas is some of the dumbest %#*+ I’ve ever herd!! The man can just flat out fish. Not to mention the knowledge he has stored away. His fan base is not dying, he is still recognized all over, (even this thread), and the guy will win again. You don’t have every angler in the world either scared of you, rooting for you, or hating you for beating them up!! Yeah I’m a KVD fan for sure, but someone’s argument on here is stupid as heck!!

To the O.P..... yeah looked pretty rough on him in 2019. I think he will make some adjustments this year and shine in one of the events. The dude has ice in his veins for sure.

And Tiger is still winning and still shakes up the crowd like no other. You made a good point for sure

I think Matt 1212 hit it on the head. He inspired a lot of anglers that now have way more technology and resources .

Bottom line, KVD will never be welcomed back to BASS or openly recognized and spoken about as a legend like many others currently are. People know what his role was in all of this. His future deal and same as the others like him will be like the new XFL players, it’s doubtful any of them will ever make it back into the big show of the NFL. They’ve sealed their fate. Brandon and Gerald got a early pass and them moving when they did benefited them greatly; next year won’t be so easy for the others. Yes, they are grown men who made their decisions, but it’s well known that peer pressure and being rushed to make a decision and commitment by the likes of KVD played a role in why some of them moved over.

The future for KVD in this industry is going to be limited to the broadcast booth for a 2nd or 3rd tier good old boys club league known for trying to hoodwink clueless sponsor executives into believing they are going to be getting value out of their advertising spends in delayed programming TV shows that run at 4am in the morning instead of promoting live onsite events that actually interact with the fans.

Big o you're drunk go home. The legends status goes for anyone who qualifies. That is not something they made up for 2 guys. It's the reason guys like mark Davis were still fishing the elites.

Whatever dude, I just watched mlf on YouTube and it was shows of pro after pro after pro catching big fish after big fish after big fish. Keep talking your smack. I guess you’ve been fishing with KVD and know him personally and so what he’s done has betrayed your friendship or something of the sort. Please enlighten us since you’re an insider and know him so well.
