My mom died of ovarian cancer in 2006.
We were all surprised at the type since she had to have a hysterectomy in her late 40s. Her oncologist told her that in those days the doctors frequently did not remove a woman's ovaries when performing a hysterectomy to "keep her from going into the change of life too soon." But most of them never told their patients. So nobody thought they were there, including all of my mom's doctors for many years. this was my grandma. DAMN I HATE cancer

Grandma died of skin cancer. Dad has bladder cancer. Mother-in-law several kinds of cancer. The good news is they are getting vastly better at treating it. Now days if they catch it early they can often work wonders.

Daddy is currently fighting throat cancer Uncle beat throat cancer but is paying the price for bad radiation treatments that burned up his jaw bone and just about incinerated his arteries. Has a whole neck full of stints. Mom beat breast cancer Grandma beat breast cancer, died of something else that effected her due to complications of her treatments. So in the long run, she lost.

My family has been very fortunate for the most part. An aunt died of lung cancer in her 50's after smoking 2-3 packs a day since she was a teenager. The illness caused several aunts and uncles to quit cigarettes when she started chemo and they've all lived long lives with no cancer that I know of.
This thread needs more cowbell ...

prostate out in emergency surgery april of 06 due to late stage cancer, that one near killed me. almost 4 months recovery. I now know how to use catheters really well.
drs. told me 3 + yrs ago that anything more than 2 was gonna be good, screw em (they probably forecast the weather part time too).
cancer sucks and I keep my fingers crossed this lasts a few more yrs. I got a lot of feeshin to do yet.

Best friends mom died when he was 11, his aunt, cousins, and sister all had to have full hysterectomy before they were 30. His dad just underwent surgery to remove colon cancer. 3 of his 4 grandparents died from cancer. His wife had the same genetic markers for ovarian and breast cancer, and had to have a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy. He knows that it’s just a matter of time before it gets him as well.
My family just gets skin cancer. We are as white as white can be since our lineage is Northern Ireland. I had skin cancer 4 times before I turned 40. But it was the easy kind.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

if you live long enough you will eventually die from cancer. Once you get past about 90 your risk of dying of cancer starts to go down. Once you are over 100 only about 4% of people die of cancer. If you die in your 80's by comparison, there's about a 25% chance the cause is cancer. Frailty and pneumonia get a lot more people after the age of 100.
