Football builds character. That's a ridiculous comparison.

I honestly didn't know who was doing the halftime show til I asked my wife just before halftime, and I did immediately have my suspicions that it was headed that direction and I turned it off after a few minutes and flipped it back on 15 minutes later. My point is that good parents shouldn't have to turn off a primetime football game for content that's bad for their kids to see. This isn't HBO - it's a freaking football game.

Football builds character...scantly clad wimmin will destroy a lifetime of character in 14 minutes and 25 seconds. Seen it done in less.

Did they play football during the halftime show? I must have missed that. Sounds like you should have just watched something else for halftime when you knew who was going to be on it. There was no football during that time and YOU chose to turn it on.

It's about the type of person you want your kids to strive to be. Do you want to teach a 9yo girl that folks idolize people who dress in skimpy clothes and shake their vagina in front of a camera? So that she can grow up trying to be like that, choosing friends who support that vision, and learning to have males objectify her? And teaching my son to look at women like that? I'd like to think I can teach them a little better self-image and vision for their lives than that.

Then YOU shouldn't have turned it on....

I did turn it off. My question is why can't I leave a football game turned on for us to watch as a family. This isn't on HBO?

Music was horrible. The pole dancing, booty shaking and crotch shots made me throw dollar bills at the tv screen.

J Lo did more crotch grabbing in a 10 minute half time show than Michael Jackson did in an entire concert.

You can. Every football game but the Superbowl. People pay many thousands of dollars for those tickets. As such, they try and maximize that value by putting on a major concert during the half time show. Those shows have been of sketchy content for decades and will remain so for the foreseeable future. You know that. Flip it off. I assure you they are smart people and have determined they make more money with booty shaking content than the Joel Osteen choir. Right or wrong it is what it is.

This is just one more way our society has taken a downward spiral,[in my opinion]. Entertainment that undermines our ethics and morals. You can't watch anything on television without them pushing unethical and obscene programing. Sex, LBGTQRSA and whatever else they might add next week are on public display. I can care less what they do in there own bedrooms, just inappropriate on mainstream television. If you let your teenage daughter watch that and idolize that....we are different.

I get that. I just wish we'd say that it's about the money and the reason that the money follows that type of entertainment is because of how broken our culture is.

I'm not asking for Joel Osteen (good one though smile ). Give me Garth, George, Keith Urban, etc. - there are lots of options for entertainers who would be appropriate for the entire audience. But as you said, it's about the money. Conservatives aren't willing to turn off the TV when stuff like that comes on, but liberals will turn it off if we put George up there. Just a shame...

ETA: I'll leave the thread alone now. I was just disappointed. Maybe one of these days I'll get my wish and we can see George up there

Lack of support for Puerto Rico, both after the Hurricane and the recent major Earthquake.

Do y'all get as upset when baseball players adjust their junk a dozen or so times an inning or at bat? Technically, that's crotch grabbing.
