Thanks Hogon for the write. I had my first colonoscopy when I was 55. They found 23 polops, all removed, 8 precancerous. I went back 6 months later, 8 polops, all removed, none cancerous. Since that time, I go in EVERY 3 years. The last two have been polop free. So far, I'm one of the lucky ones. This is no joke, very bad stuff. If you're over 50 and never had a colonoscopy, you're betting on something that you may not win. As Hogon said, they put you out and there are no after effects (and that does not include the preop stuff you drink....and the resulting time on the 'john'). Good luck everyone...….

I lost my son three years ago to stage 4 colon cancer. He was 44 years old and never had a colonoscopy. Colon cancer is a silent killer that can get out of control before you have symtoms of something being wrong. A colonoscopy is presently the best preventive way to stop colon cancer from occuring.

Thanks for your post Hogon, I wish you the best.

Wonder what's up with Drs. advising against them after age, I think, 75. Is it a medicare thing or what?

Great post Hogon. I hope all is good going forward. I'm sorry to hear about those that have lost loved ones to colon cancer. I have had about 5 colonoscopies. The last one was about 2 months ago. No polyps for the first time. Only one polyp a few years ago came back as pre-cancerous. As bad as I hate the process, I will continue to have them.
