I used to be an FG knot advocate. I've since switched over to the Alberto. When tied correctly the FG knot is the better knot, but there is no doubt it is a more difficult knot to tie and it can be extremely fickle. It works better with larger diameter line. It takes 3 hands to tie it!! Yep. No thanks

It doesn't take 3 hands and is pretty easy after you've tied it a few times.

I've been using 12 lb Sunline SX1 braid to 8 - 10 lb Seaguar InvizX using the FG knot with the rizzuto finish the last few months. Have had to break my ned heads off a couple times with that combo and the line has broken at the palomar tied to the ned head both times. Had some trouble with the FG failing when I was learning to tie it, but that was most likely from not cinching down the knot tight enough before finishing it. It's a tedious PITA but it's awesome when tied correctly.
