My biggest was 2 and 4 tenths at lake palestine. Its not uncommon to catch a few over 2 when they are biting good. Only problem is, they are not having a good spawn year this year. Maybe next year will be better
Its your story, tell it how you want.

Its funny how a big crappie changes everything. Cuz first it looks like a nice bass then things get darn serious when you realize you have a big ol sac-a-lait on the line. I always like catchin a big one in the crappie houses, everyone gets all excited and it really brings a bunch of guys together.

I am still searching for the 2lb mark, the biggest one so far is 1.7lb, hope to change that this summer. My pardner broke the 2lb mark a couple of years ago at CC. If I get anywhere near a 3lb you better get the damn net this time Cecil lol.

A little over 3# not sure how much as it was a long time ago, no pics and the wife has one that was 2.9# a few years back. I have pics of the wife's, but not sure where and I need to find them anyway. The year my wife got that one I had a 2.7# and a couple of 2.5#. The next year we both had several at the 2.4#-2.7# size but couldn't match the 2.9 from the year before. I think the 2.9 was 5 springs back and up until 3 years ago we didn't have to go more than 1/2 mile to get all of these. Many time never needed the big motor at all. Last years big fish were a little over 17" and here is one of them from last spring (May06).

Bassman76,
did that fish come out of a lake? Either way it is a fish of a lifetime! You should be proud.
We were talking with some locals at Livingston this year and I asked them if they had been catching any good fish in this creek we were fishing. This guy (fool) says yeah, we catch lots of 3 and 4 pounders... There wasn't one fish weighed in that tournament that was over 2#'s out of 50 teams and this was during the spawn. Two pounders usually go 1.50# if they are weighed.
