With respect to the S Storm that’s going, I’d bet your reel was defective. It was probably only a matter of time before it broke anyway. I high sticked a Falcon Cara while landing a bass, smaller than your catch, while stock tank fishing and broke it clean right in front of the stripper guide.

Turns out that I damaged the rod several days prior and it was waiting for the right amount of torque to be applied before it showed the damage. Lol.

Your reel might have had a bad casting too. Never know.

I agree. Very few that post videos ever say. A 5lber broke my rod. It's always monster or giant. I just don't watch

You have forgotten how excited you were when you landed your first 5+ pounder. To a lot of guys that fish off the bank, a 5.58 is a monster. At least he had a scale and weighed it on video. A lot of folks (and you know some of them) will catch a 5 and call it an EIGHT!!

So you say my fish was a 5. You were not there when I caught it, took pictures of it, weighed it on certified scales at a Lake Fork marina and then released it back into the lake.

To me a monster bass is 13 and over. Ken on here has a Monster 15 pound bass.

I retract my first response. I did not realize that so many people consider a 5 pound bass a Monster bass. I stand corrected.

To the OP, you did catch a nice chunky bass, I never said it wasn't a nice fish even though that got all twisted around by so many on here, and when I said you need better quality equipment I meant that in a positive way. I did not say you needed expensive equipment even though someone commented about not being able to afford a $300-$500 rod. People seem to like to twist things around, put their own spin on a comment.

In the video it looked like the part that broke was a plastic lock down ring. Is that what broke? Look for a rod that has a better lock ring if that one was plastic. You can get good equipment without spending a lot of money. Academy has H20 rods that are very good for the price. They also have a few well known name brand spinning rods that are good quality at affordable prices. You can also get good quality equipment that is used. I have bought a lot of used equipment over the years because that is a good way to get quality equipment and save money,,,or have extra for tackle.

If money to get better equipment is tight, I will start the process. Send me your papyal name and I will send you $30 to start with and all of you that slammed me on here can also send him at least $20 each. Put the money where your mouth is. You will see who is willing to help and who is just all talk. I'm willing to bet you will not hear from most of the posters on here that slammed me to send you any money. Lets see what happens.
