I know these things are definitely the exception to the rule but man there seems to be more and more people being caught cheating in tournaments lately. I guess when there's enough money on the line people are willing to do just about anything.

its the lack of respect for laws an decency for every one they catch there are a lot more that get away with it, they should have let him weigh his fish an then they could have done something about it as is he got away with it.

I'm guessing even without weighing his fish in the law can still go after him. Unless I am missing something, it's still theft of contest regardless.

He should have allowed him to weigh in and then let the game warden come out and handle it. No reason to give him a free pass. I wonder if he is still a guide.

I think they should just ban tournaments on public lakes.

I wish anyone that came in 2nd to this guy could file a civil suite against him. But I don't know how you'd prove in that instance he cheated. But cheaters cheat. I'll never tournament fish. There are way more effective ways to make money and I do it for the joy of just being on the water. But boy if I fished for my livelihood, I'd do everything I could to make him pay.

I was fishing a local club tournament back in the 80's, for trophies and bragging rights, and that was before the big money tournaments began to be the norm.
We were fishing on the Mexico side in a popular cove that had a lot of gill nets. As we worked our way around a Mexican fisherman that was running his nets, he shouted out to us if we wanted to buy a bass while holding up about a 10# range largemouth.
My partner and I looked at each other and started laughing as we both thought about one of the guys that always fished the area we were fishing, and wondered out loud if he knew so and so? That was one of the top fishermen in the club and he always brought in several big bass every tournament out there.
Padding that guys hand with a few greenbacks would have been a heck of an anchor for a stringer and even winning a big bass pot!
Some people I'm sure would have been tempted!
That was near the end for me having the desire to fish those tournaments, and I had some suspicions before and after that encounter.
