I don't know about the best lake in TX for crappie since this State of ours is so big, and I don't know when I will be able to fish every lake thoroughly to give an accurate opinion. However, as far as the immediate within reach of the metro plex, then it must be Lake Worth (assuming there was never a ban). Lake Worth would be considered as the quantity/quality lake. That's my .02 I agree. LW is an awesome crappie lake...too bad about the consumption ban. I fished a little railroad lake out in W. Texas in Baird (about 20 miles E. of Abilene) called T&P, I've pulled some monsters out of there. I once had a stringer that had 4 2#+ crappie and one 3# crappie. Nice slabs!

It seems the concensus that ALL lakes in TX can produce good limits with big fish at any given time,
"One-3Lb-er" PB= 3Lb 4 OZ Texarkana, TX Fish in Texas=Wright Patman, Lake of Pines, Caddo: Arkansas=Millwood, Greeson, Dierks, White Oak: Oklahoma=Pine Creek, Hugo.

For Austin Metro Area, Lake Travis by far. When you get tired of fishing, you can check out the other items floating on the water! I 2nd that motion- Lake Travis-and checking out the other items floating on the water...

Little place called Proctor. Year in and year out I would go there to catch monsters and numbers. I would call a great lake a place where you can go and catch fish every time. This is the only lake that I can do that on.

I have had my best days up on Bridgeport. Have caught quite a few over 17" and never seem to come home with less a bag full of fillets. But that's just me! Just my opinion.

Lake O the Pines has got to be one of the best for BIG crappie.
Sam Rayburn is one of the best for day in and day out.
