I would like to see the MLF format at college tournaments but the coaches of the teams have to Marshall on their competitor's boats. That may be quite entertaining

So does anyone think the FLW will get more viewership than BPT next year because it will be both formats? Can not wait for the 3 day leader with a 4+ pound average to lose out on day 4 thru 6 by 50 one pound fish per day on Rayburn in January. Just an awful idea

He deserves to get beat. I love the idea

It hurts me to say this.... Nobody is going to make the cut catching that caliber of fish.

Guess the big schools of 1lb spots on Rayburn have a purpose after all...

I like the mixed format much better than just using the MLF format, but I think they got it backwards.
I think it is much easier to go to a new lake and catch numbers than it is to target big fish.
I would like to see them count every fish the first couple of rounds. Then those guys separating from the pack have the ability to scout and look for bigger fish for the latter rounds.

The next tournaments to go to MLF format and use the "new technology" should be the big bass tournaments put on by Jones and Sealy. There is no reason to bring those 8-10 pound fish in to be weighed. Or may be we should just get away from existing big bass tournament formats and see which of the 3,000 contestants can "weigh & release" the most pounds of fish in the "every fish counts" format??? It has to be better for conservation, entertainment value and draw the interest of the masses. I expect Jones to lead the way

So I guess our discussion is really based on whether day 4, day 5 and day 6 of a 6 day tournament is the same game/tournament or not. Obviously, I view it as the same game with the different days being analogous to quarters in other sports such as football.
FLW (and possible BASS) previously experimented with the zeroing of weights silliness to create "drama". Anglers eventually got their way and zeroing was stopped.

I get that people like the best 5 format, but I still come back to if catching 50 dinks is so easy why doesn’t everyone in the field not catch 50 dinks?
I’m guessing because it’s not as easy as some on here seem to believe.

Zeroing the weights doesn't bother me. In Nascar a guy could have a 20 second lead. But after a caution he doesn't get to start with a 20 second lead. They bunch them back up

I could be totally wrong, but I think the MLF format is to help the fish. Things like no net, releasing below the gunnel, cannot touch the boat or the angler, no live well, all things that benefit the fish. This is just something that I assumed. I personally like the format, and apparently so do the pro's. JMHO..

As long as they are part of it, I doubt anyone will ever speak out against the format.
