I love my nrx 854 for that. They can be had for your price or a little lower by asking dealers to match a price you saw on ebay or wherever. Ive gotten them for 375-425

I use a St. Croix legend tourney 7'1" MH Fast action rod a lot. LBC71MHF. Or the 7'4" version which they call a c-rig rod but it handles well on longer flips. LBC74MHF. They came out with a 7'5" Heavy Mod action rod I really want to try! LBC75HMF. Really like how the mod action let's em load up just a hair more. They run around $260 new.
Also have a Dobyns 705 savvy series rod that handles heavier weights well. They don't make that line anymore but I'm sure the 705 in another line would be close to equal.
Where are you from? Best to see if you can meet up with someone and try different ones. $450 can get you 1 rod or 4!!

For that budget you could have one made exactly to your specs/tastes. Aside from that I really like the Megabass rods. The Levante Perfect Pitch is an awesome rod for $200.
Less gritchin', more fishin'

Lamiglas makes a wonderful jig rod. Just look through their assortment. I believe it's a 7'3. For that prive range put your hands on a zillion or she's rod and see how you like them.
When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip! #Brockstarama

Dobyns Champion 766 FLIP or 765 FLIP are good options ($260 new). I mostly use the 766 FLIP and switch between 25# fluorocarbon (wood cover) and 70# braid (grass lakes). The heavy is perfect for 3/4oz and 1oz jigs and T-rigs. I use a Lew's Super Duty 8:1 reel. There are a lot of other brands of rods/reels that work but these are what I like.
With the floods this year I did the best flipping bushes and wood with 25# fluorocarbon flipping. I lost a lot of fish with braid because it cuts into wood when a fish wraps you up. The fluorocarbon doesn't cut in and I at least had a chance to fight the fish out of the cover.

Power Tackle ..........try the LPC 675 or "The One" 04M. Both these rods are the best I've had in my had. Super sensitive and strong enough to do what ever you want it too.
Some of the best rods made in my opinion.

I'm pretty partial to my Megabass Orochi XX Perfect Pitch. Same model in Levante series are great too as is the Destroyer FMJ.

http://dobynsrods.com/rod/dx-744c-sh/The DX 744C S/H is my absolute favorite for pitching and skipping jigs and Texas Rigs. I have two of them and both are always on the deck. Paired with a Diawa Tatula SV I can skip jigs and Texas rigs way back in there. Some people like the full cork handle better but for flipping and skipping I like the splt handle. If I'm dragging, reeling I would rather have the full handle. Ain't it great to have options. For heaviier than 1/2 ounce step up to the 745 and 746.
