I use to go to Corona, Riverside, and Ontario on business quite often. I have been out there through some of the worst floods and fires. I was at our Riverside plant training a new hire during some bad fires. As we walked out to lunch one day i told her "smells like we have another grass fire". She looks at me and says "yep it is burning right over there on the wall". Of course this was before drug testing. My cousin told me long ago that she felt like a minority in her own country.

Exactly. My godfather is visiting from Northern California and we talked about this outage yesterday. He's very concerned about home invasions, especially since Californians are a disarmed populace.

Never been to California. I'd like to visit San Diego and drive up the coast, but I doubt I ever will.

Now is the time to go. It's lobster season there. I wouldn't do it because I'm a sissy and seen Jaws too many times, but diving for lobster is big out there.

Better scenery off of Skyline Blvd through the mountains. And much less traffic.

The best scenery on Highway 1 is south of Santa Cruz through Monterrey, Carmel and Big Sur. I drove the stretch from Arroyo Grande to Pacifica a few days ago - stunning scenery.

Cali should be proud as they have the opportunity to show how itโ€™s done without fossil fuels.

It's going to be apocalyptic by the end of the week. You can't charge your electric car. You can't pump gas into your regular car. The city stop lights are out or are blinking on battery backup. Your office is closed. Your kids school is closed. You have no TV or internet at home. You can't go out to eat or watch a movie because they are closed too. And to top it off, they can't tell you how long it will last.

It seems like in the past 12 months since the "big fire" that they could have come up with an upgrade to the power lines to correct the problem. The economic loss of lost electric sales, lost sales tax from stores and restaurants and all of the food that will go bad may be enormous. I wonder what is being done to help folks on home dialysis or oxygen machines or do they even care?

The tree huggers in Cali won their battles years ago. It takes an act of Congress and God to get permission to cut down a tree. Hence, there are not enough "fire breaks" in wooded areas near housing communities. So, when a fire starts, from a power line hitting a TREE, or from lightning as an act of nature (God), the collateral damage is enormous. So, people lose their homes because of Tree which burns down anyway. But the libs feel good about not cutting down any trees. So there is that.

I've been a few times. We used to attend a Convention there in Santa Clara, every year. Been to San Jose, San Fran, San Diego. Most of the Sans. Flew from San Jose to San Diego rented a car and drove up the coast to Carmel and Vista to visit some scientific instrument companies. The coastal highway is nice scenery, you get to see a lot of it because it is mostly bumper to bumper traffic. The town of Santa Clara was disgusting as was San Jose. Nothing special to see rows of houses, dingy and all looked the same. The weather was overcast and cool since November was the months I was there.
