Some big ones in there! Yessir the bite is hard to nail down, the only indication you'll have most times that a fish is on is your line going tight and slack, sometimes not even enough to bend the rod tip!

Catch and release. The dream - to catch one of every species of Freshwater fish in our great state! If only I can resist Carp...

Yeah for sure a tough bite to pick up. The only way I could do it was to hold the rod and if the line ticked set the hook. That is the only way I can catch buffs or have ever caught a buff is with no weight on the line and holding the rod. Swing as soon as the line ticks even a fraction of an inch.

Which is funny because usually a carp will just yank the rod into the lake, they dont play around.

Yup! Those differences are one of the things that make fishing for Carp and Buffalo super interesting. Don't tell the Carp but I actually like fishing for Buffalo just a tad better... lol

Very nice bunch of fish. What’s a helix Buffalo? Never heard that term, but then again, I’ve never spent any time chasing these critters.

Thanks! This is a helix Buffalo, it's just a term we use to describe Buffalo that have irregular scale patterns. I'd say it's like a Mirror Carp but the helix pattern is caused by scales healing after an injury. The Mirror Carp is a genetic thing!
