Remember when everybody read Datamation magazine to learn the latest computer acronyms and stock up on cliches like Big Blue, connect the dots, pick the low hanging fruit, etc.

My first computer was a 1977 WANG with a dot matrix printer the size of a 30lb dog
The hard drive must have weighed in at around 40lbs.
Used the non spell check/no grammar correction word processor for all my high school and college papers

At the very end, there was one store in all of Austin that carried the replacement printer cartridges

That computer ran true on every start up and never died, but I had to get a replacement in 1996 that was more internet compatible. They don’t make them like that anymore

I heard HP is having issues now with their company, downsizing and such. I don't even know who the big marketers are now for Desktop and Tower PCs. I have a Dell tower I'm still running and Microsoft Surface.

Remember? ..... I think it was "third Saturday" downtown Dallas in the early '80's. A pure geek swap fest for components under an overpass.

And I know who "Jeff" is.

Yes, the Amateur Radio club close by used to sponsor it. Sidewalk sales of electronic parts, equipment, instruments, etc. Bought a scope there once, and we used to make those Hoppe-Tronics microwave down converter boards with the Yagi antennas. You could pick up "On" Tv (not sure of the name) but it was scrambled until you dialed in the right voltage and subsequent sync frequency. On Friday nights, I heard that you could dial in some "adult" entertainment. smile

Crazy how far technology has advanced in such a short time Bob. Those were fun times.

I still have an IBM Jr. in the original box with a couple of cartridges ((I don't remember which ones) along with the dot matrix printer in the box.
I have no idea why I've held onto them other than that was my first home computer.
