Arlington has been known to ask for both, before you could pick up your pay check.

same for her, I think she panicked while her attention was on something else and she acted out of instinct.
sometimes life just sucks and for her it should be manslaughter but don't throw the book at her.

Which scenarios are cops held to a higher standard?

pick a courtroom, she will get manslaughter and time when this is over.

Gotta kinda agree.^ And just a very unfortunate confluence of events resulting in a horrible situation for all involved.

Heard on the radio this afternoon that a lesser charge cannot be handed down by the jury on her because she has admitted that she killed him. Something to do with the risk of double jeopardy. Not a lawyer, so don’t ask me.

She admitted her intent was to kill him. I'm guessing that was because of her training and her lawyer told her to say that. I remember a case I think was in Missouri where another woman cop had shot and killed a man who she believed had a gun. She was asked why she didn't just shoot him in the leg. She said she wasn't trained to shoot people in the leg. Guyger seems to feel the same way. Have no idea how this turns out but I think 9 times out 10 the jury gets it right. I think that's 90%. That other 10% is kinda scary. I would not want to be on that jury or the judge. I'm sure it will be an emotional verdict.

If your rotten tree falls on your neighbor’s house, that is not an act of god, that is negligence. You failed to take the necessary steps to prevent that from happening, therefore that makes you liable. If you don’t see green leaves on the tree, then you should have known it was dead. Act of god. roflmao An act of god is damage that is unpreventable i.e. tornado, hurricane, etc.

My problem is she is a cop and the first thing she should have noticed was HER STUFF WAS NOT IN THIS APARTMENT! Anyone should be able to sit in their own home, eat ice cream, and not be afraid someone is going to kill them because they went into the wrong apartment.

HER STUFF WAS NOT IN THE APARTMENT! It was not the couch and dinette that is in her apartment so how can you claim with a straight face that you thought it was your home?

Prediction: This will end with a hung jury. She will be re-tried and convicted of manslaughter. I don’t think they will give the jury the option of less than murder. They will eventually sentence her to ~5 years. The appropriate sentence IMO.

It really seems to me that the murder charge won't stick and I think that was the intention.
